Using Social Media for Product Sales

Social Media can be a great tool for boosting awareness of your offer or promotion and there are many ways in which you can use your social media platforms to full effect. We’ve structured this post by talking about the ‘big two’; Facebook and Twitter.

Facebook
Facebook is a great platform for pushing products and their advertising platform is designed to help you do just that. You’re able to select a Facebook campaign for an offer and it allows Facebook users to ‘claim’ your offer. This may be by visiting the website and buying the product, or if you’re running a service like hairdressing, the Facebook user can be directed to your contact form, whilst you can tell them to print/bring the Facebook token to claim the offer in store. You can also push products organically. This would be by creating a series of posts, perhaps even countdown posts until the sale ends. You have to be persistent but be warned, doing this too often may mean you loose a large number of followers, especially if you’re spamming their news feed.

Twitter

Twitter can work much like Facebook organically. By this we mean if you create a series of posts, you’ll be raising awareness but too many Tweets can again drive your followers to unfollow and nobody wants that. You can also run Twitter Ads but these aren’t as easy to gear towards offers and promotions, they’re however widely used to get more followers. That’s not to say that it will not work, it’s just that Facebook ‘s advertising platform is better designed for promotions, and there’s of course the bonus that your Facebook advert can be rolled out on Instagram too, which is another of the giant social media platforms.

If you have an offer in mind that you’d like to run, be sure to consider using social media!
